Terrie Sanders
Terrie Shealy Sanders, CMVT-MT, holds the rank of Associate Professor of Music at Northwestern State University of Louisiana located in historic Natchitoches. She has been a member of the NSU faculty since 1992. She holds undergraduate degrees from Emmanuel College in Franklin Springs, GA and Lee University in Cleveland, TN. Terrie also holds an M.M. in voice with a secondary emphasis in choral conducting.
Mrs. Sanders teaches Voice, Diction, and Vocal Pedagogy. She is the Program Coordinator for the Bachelor of Music degrees in Performance and Sacred Music. She is also the faculty advisor for the Beta Iota Chapter of Sigma Alpha Iota. Terrie was the founding director of the NSU Women’s Chorus and conducted that group for twelve years. In addition to her teaching schedule, Terrie also enjoys performing regularly with the Natchitoches-Northwestern Symphony Orchestra as soprano soloist.
Terrie is the accompanist for the adult choir at South Winnfield Baptist Church and the Director of Children’s music. She also is a member of the SWBC Handbell Choir.
Ms. Sanders has been an active member of the National Association of Teachers of Singing since 1994 and has served on the Southern Region Board for that organization. Terrie has been a Certified McClosky Voice Technician since 2004 and was awarded the status of Master Teacher in 2010.
